FOODBOARD™ – safe and ecologically sustainable
FOODBOARD™ complies with the current European regulations and laws for direct and indirect food contact. Leading institutes have issued relevant declarations of food conformity.

The ecological benefits of a sustainable packaging economy are further guaranteed by the use of FOODBOARD™: 
FOODBOARD™ is a mono-material, a pure cartonboard solution and not an extruded or laminated compound, and it is therefore fully recyclable and bio-degradable. The Austrian Packaging Institute has confirmed in a report that it meets the EN 13432* standard.


Mayr-Melnhof Karton Frohnleiten – state-of-the-art and environmentally friendly
As with all MMK mills, the Frohnleiten mill is subject to the strictest procedure and process regulations and is certified to the INREKA-HACCP standard and to DIN EN 15593**.

Environmental protection was systematically anchored in the management system over two decades ago with certification to the worldwide standard for environmental management systems, ISO 14001. Together with the “Eco Management and Audit Scheme” (EMAS), this certification forms the basis for the continuous implementation of an integrated environmental management system. Regular internal and external audits guarantee the high environmental standard and give support when new requirements are to be fulfilled.

Mayr-Melnhof Karton was one of the first companies in the cartonboard industry to receive certification to the quality management system ISO 9001 which guarantees efficient procedures and processes, defined implementation regulations and above all continuous improvement.

We attach great importance to the use of proven, sustainable raw materials. In line with this principle, Frohnleiten is certified to the international forest standard systems FSC® and PEFC and procure in accordance with the EU Timber Regulation. This enables complete verification that all the wood and pulp purchased and utilised originates from sustainable forestry, 

were harvested in accordance with current statutory provisions and purchased following the principles and criteria of the particular standard.
