It was in this context that the MM cartonboard mill Kolicevo (Slovenia) decided to further develop the „Kromopak“ cartonboard grade already established and recognized in the pharmaceutical packaging sector.

Fibre Transparency
During October 2009, all eight MM Karton’s mills achieved both PEFC/FSC Chain-of-Custody-Certification creating a new maximum transparency of the fibre material we process.
MM Karton is now the largest supplier of PEFC/FSC certified cartonboard in Europe, emphasizing its leading role in the implementation of sustainable market standards. Therefore our customers can be confident about future availability of PEFC/FSC certified cartonboard.
From November 1st 2009 all qualities from MM Karton’s product-portfolio, recovered and virgin fibre based, are if desired, available with PEFC/FSC certification.

Mayr-Melnhof Group to become largest producer of FSC and PEFC certified recovered cartonboard and folding cartons
Sustainable production of environmentally friendly packaging solutions has always been an inherent part of the business activities of the Mayr-Melnhof Group.
With the objective to further increase transparency in the use of fibres throughout the whole chain of custody – from the tree to the folding carton – for our customers and endusers, all 8 cartonboard mills of MM Karton as well as selected folding cartons plants of MM Packaging will be certified according to PEFC (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) by the end of 3rd quarter of 2009.

Environmental Statement Frohnleiten
We are glad to inform you that after successful examination of our enviromental management system according to ISO 14001 and EMAS the validated environmental statement for the production site Frohnleiten is now available online in its consolidated version.
Frohnleiten part of Mayr-Melnhof Karton Gesellschaft m.b.H. is to be found under registration number AT-000054 in the EMAS organisational register.

NEW !! Launch of the MMK Sample Folder Edition 2008
In summer 2008 the new “MMK Sample Folder” was published.
What standard qualities can do!
The new sample folder gives a highly convenient overview of the standard qualities of the Mayr-Melnhof cartonboard division. The objective is to offer a broad spectrum of information concerning printability and processing as well as general cartonboard information about range of products and contact data.
The innovations
The design of the new sample folder is not the only thing that had changed. Also the inner part of the folder got a new design.
Basically, the separation of the sample folder according to grades persisted in its familiar way.
The booklets of the technical data sheets are one of the most important new features of the sample folder. Those are structured according to the quality groups and are directly filed in the superior chapters
The new sample folder has the demand to present the qualitatively high range of our products in order to ease the decision making process in daily business.

New Quality Assurance System at BM 3, Frohnleiten
Following the excellent results of the new quality assurance system on BM 2 at the Austrian Frohnleiten mill, this new technology was now also implemented at BM 3 by the turn of the year.
Via a monitoring car, specific cartonboard properties such as grammage, moisture, calliper, gloss, whiteness and smoothness are continuously monitored and analysed on-line. In case of deviations from the optimum, counter-measures are directly undertaken.

New telephone extensions for MM Karton Headquarter Vienna as of September 1, 2006
Within September 1, 2006 there will be new extensions for MM Karton Headquarter. The head number will remain the same
+43 1 501 36 but in this connection there will be inserted a 9 before the previous 4-digit extension or 19 for digital fax.
