FSC & PEFC

As market leader, we meet it as an obligation to set new market standards for the sustainable and responsible use of resources. Of particular importance is the use of proven, sustainable raw materials as part of the production process.

In line with this principle all MM cartonboard mills are certified according to the international forest standard systems FSC and PEFC. This enables us to provide consistent proof that all purchased and utilized wood and pulp originates from sustainable forestry, has been harvested according to the applicable legal regulations and has been purchased in correspondence with the principles and criteria of the corresponding standard.

Further we undertake to exclude the usage of wood originating from one of the fol-lowing categories (following the currently valid „Controlled Wood Standard“ by FSC):

1. illegally harvested wood
2. Wood harvested in violation of traditional and civil rights
3. Wood harvested in forests in which High Conservation Values (areas particu-
    larly worth of protection) are threatened through management activities
4. Wood harvested from conversion of natural forests
5. Wood harvested from areas where genetically modified trees are planted
